Glessner House Museum
Glessner House Museum is located at 1800 South Prairie Avenue in South loop Chicago. The museum is designed to provide architectural works of Henry Hobson Richardson and explore the historic home of john and Frances Glessner. It aims to provide exploration of the preserved works of urban life and its design as interpreted by Henry Hobson Richardson.
The museum is open throughout the year except on official holidays or occasions. Special visiting hours for the Clarke House Tours are from 12 pm till 2 pm and 1 pm till 3 pm for Glessner House Tours. The museum is open from Sunday to Wednesday. Visits in the form of group of twelve are also encouraged. Wednesday is free admission day. For rest of week $10 is charged per adult, students and seniors are charged $9 and $5 is charged for children of age 5-12. Special package of $15 per adult, students and seniors $12 and children of age 5-12 are charged $8 if you opt to visit both these places
A number of events are held throughout the year. Some of the current events being held and planned for the future are Chicago Afternoons with Leon, Great Houses of Chicago, Lake Forest Estates Tour, Chicago’s Historic Prairie Avenue, A Walk Through Time- Annual Benefit and Prairie Avenue Walking Tours. Chicago Afternoon with Leon and Great Houses of Chicago are planned for the month of April on 5th and 23rd at 10 am and 7 pm respectively.
