Sears Merchandise Building Tower

Sears merchandise building is one of the most renowned buildings in Chicago. Built in 1906 near the vicinity of the Lawndale, Chicago it is a beautiful treat to watch. It is use to house the biggest retailers of Chicago. It has a floor count of 15 floors, this floor count was indeed considered a skyscraper in 1906.George G Nimmons and William K fellows were trusted to architect this piece of art. The area covered by this building is enormous and thus it housed the greatest retailers along with many offshoots. The area covered by the specific building is 3,000,000 square feet which by all scales is a big area under discussion.

This place housed the headquarters and thus was responsible to house the other operators of the Sears Roebuck Company. This is a large list of the different echelons of this company which were housed in this tower coupled with the different facilities which later were made part of the original design.

The original Sears tower was built in 1906. As the time passed various offshoots were included in the original design. It included a WLS radio station in 1924 and drinking mountains and the moving stairways in 1920. Sears first retail outlet was made part of the design in 1926. Thus a lot of things were added to the massive design to bring it into shape of today. The employers were given a very good working environment in the shape of athletic facilities in 1920.
